A Macomb woman plans to have some fun after winning $2 million on the Michigan Lottery’s The Big Spin show.
Barbara Brown, 71, won the big prize after spinning the prize wheel on The Big Spin show hosted by Detroit basketball champion John Salley. Brown was selected to participate in the show after entering codes from non-winning The Big Spin tickets at www.MIBigSpin.com. Brown’s prize is the largest won on The Big Spin show. In October, Robert Hill, of Lapeer, won a $1 million prize.
“When the wheel stopped, I thought it landed on $200,000 at first,” said Brown. “When it hit me that it was $2 million, I was in complete shock.”
“Anything would have been great, but this is a lot of money,” said Brown. “It is life-changing.”
Brown chose to receive her winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million, rather than annuity payments for the full amount.
“I only made plans for $100,000, so this is going to require some thought,” said Brown. “I do know we are going to have some fun with it though!”
Brown was one of five players selected for The Big Spin show by a random drawing. Five more players will be selected to participate on The Big Spin show. The last random drawing for The Big Spin show spots is scheduled for Jan. 2, 2020.
Each player selected will spin The Big Spin wheel and have a chance to win up to $2 million. All the players who spin The Big Spin wheel are guaranteed to win at least $100,000.
All told, 20 players will be selected to appear on the Lottery’s The Big Spin televised events, which air shortly after evening Lottery drawings. Including Brown, 15 players already have won spots on The Big Spin show. Players may submit codes from non-winning The Big Spin tickets at www.MIBigSpin.com. Players have until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31 to enter codes for the final drawing on Jan. 2. Players who enter codes will earn entries into the drawing for the opportunity to appear on television and spin the big wheel.
Each $10 The Big Spin ticket offers players a chance to instantly win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. Players have won more than $14 million playing The Big Spin. More than $61 million in prizes remain, including three $1 million top prizes, four $10,000 prizes, and 115 $1,000 prizes.
In 2018, Lottery players won more than $1 billion playing instant games. Instant games may be purchased at the Lottery’s 10,500 retailers across the state.
