A Jackson County man’s wife thought she was hallucinating after he told her he’d won $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Wild Time instant game.
“I like playing Wild Time because it’s simple,” said the 58-year-old winner. “I bought by tickets late last week and scratched them at home. After I scratched the $300,000 winner, I handed it to my wife.”
“I looked the ticket over, and started hallucinating,” said the player’s wife. “I handed it back to him and said: ‘You’d better look at that again, you’ve got a big winner!”
The player bought the winning 25th Anniversary Wild Time ticket at Cindy’s 128 Marathon and Deli, located at 12250 West Michigan Avenue in Parma.
“I stayed pretty calm after winning,” said the player. “I remember thinking: ‘It’s about time!’”
The lucky player and his wife visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim the big prize. With their winnings, they plan to pay bills and save the remainder for retirement.
“I’m only a few years from retiring, and knowing I have something in the bank takes a lot of pressure off,” the player said.
Players have won more than $40 million playing 25th Anniversary Wild Time, which launched in December 2017. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $20 million in prizes remain, including one $300,000 top prizes, eight $25,000 prizes, and 19 $2,500 prizes.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
In 2017, Lottery players won more than $960 million playing instant games.
