A Jackson County man has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving after winning a $398,434 Fantasy 5 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery.

The 75-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the Fantasy 5 numbers drawn on Sunday – 02-05-10-20-31 – to win the jackpot. He bought his winning ticket at the Mobil gas station, located at 1825 Horton Road in Jackson.

“My wife and I stopped to get the newspaper Tuesday morning when we remembered we had a Fantasy 5 ticket we hadn’t checked,” said the player. “We scanned the ticket and got a message saying we had to come to Lansing to claim our prize, but we didn’t know how much we’d won.

“When the clerk told us we matched all five numbers to win the $398,434 jackpot, we were in shock! It still hasn’t sunk in that we won.”

The player visited Lottery headquarters Tuesday to claim the big prize. With their winnings, they plan to pay bills and then save the remainder.

Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tonight’s Fantasy 5 jackpot is $110,000.
