An Ogemaw County woman cried tears of joy after learning she’d won $162,917 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Club Keno The Jack game.
“Winning this prize is so unbelievable. It’s going to make me debt-free and stress-free!” said the big winner, Julie Garrison, of West Branch.
She won the big prize when her easy pick The Jack numbers – 13-30-39-44-58-63-70-72 – matched eight of the 20 Club Keno numbers drawn in draw 1635517 on Tuesday morning. The winning ticket was bought at the Shell gas station, located at 600 West Houghton Avenue in West Branch.
“My boyfriend, Tim, and I played Club Keno on Monday night and won a little bit of money,” said the 56-year-old Garrison. “On Tuesday morning, he cashed the ticket and used $40 of the winnings to buy another Club Keno The Jack ticket.
“He checked the ticket later that day and the clerk at the Shell told him we’d have to file a claim with the Lottery. We thought we’d won $10,000, so I met up with him to get the ticket, and then headed to a bank in Houghton Lake to collect the prize.

“The girls at the bank took my ticket and then a short time later told me I’d need to call the Lottery to make an appointment because it was too big for them to cash. I called the Lottery from the bank, and when the girl told me I won $162,917, I started crying and couldn’t stop. Ever since, my stomach has been in knots and I haven’t been able to sleep because I’m so overwhelmed by winning.”
Garrison visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim the big prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills, buy Tim a new truck, and then save the remainder.
The Jack is a Club Keno add-on game that players may add to their Club Keno wager for as little as $1 per draw. With The Jack, players get eight easy pick numbers to match to the Club Keno numbers drawn. Players may win prizes ranging from $1 to the jackpot. The jackpot starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won. To win the jackpot, players must match all eight numbers.
