An Arenac County man’s last-second decision to add The Jack to his Club Keno ticket paid off big with a $160,897 prize.
The lucky 59-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, won the big prize when his easy pick The Jack numbers – 01-13-17-28-42-47-52-57 – matched eight of the 20 Club Keno numbers drawn in draw 1561224 on March 11. He bought his winning ticket at CJ’s Sports Grill, located at 201 North Marble Street in Pinconning.
“I saw The Jack was up over $150,000 and I was trying to decide if I should play it,” said the player. “At the last second my buddy told me I should add it, so I did.
“I checked the Club Keno monitor after a few minutes and saw The Jack had reset to $10,000. I said to my friends: ‘Oh man, someone won!’ That’s when my buddy started looking at my ticket, and I could just tell by the look on his face that I’d won. He tossed the ticket at me and said: You just won the damn Jack!’”
The lucky player visited Lottery headquarters on Thursday to claim his big prize. With his winnings, he plans to pay some bills and then save the remainder.
“I’ve been retired a while and I’m comfortable, but this gives me the freedom to spend some money on things I may have put off or not gotten before,” the player said.
The Jack is a Club Keno add-on game that players may add to their Club Keno wager for as little as $1 per draw. The jackpot starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won. To win the jackpot, players must match all eight numbers.
Club Keno may be played at the 11,000 Lottery retailers across the state. Drawings take place every three and a half minutes. Results and live drawings may be found online at http://www.michiganlottery.com.
