A Wayne County man couldn’t leave work quick enough after learning he’d won a $110,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery.
The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the numbers drawn Jan. 25 to win the big prize: 05-11-17-18-25. He bought his winning ticket at Shotmakers, located at 12045 Dix Toledo Road in Southgate.
“I was waiting for a co-worker to fix a machine error at work the day after the drawing, and he told me that someone had bought a winning Fantasy 5 ticket at Shotmakers,” said the player. “While he worked on things, I went to my locker to check my ticket and I was stunned!
“I yelled a few choice words while I made my way back to my machine to tell my co-worker. We finished what we were working on, and I got out of there as quick as I could.”
The 53-year-old player visited Lottery headquarters on Tuesday to claim the jackpot. With his winnings, he plans to buy a newer truck and use the remainder for a down payment on a new home.
“Winning feels great. It helps me get out of the ditch and back on track with my finances,” the player said.
Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tonight’s Fantasy 5 jackpot is $110,000.
