Ingham County Woman Wins $100,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Bonus Cashword Instant Game

A 94-year-old Ingham County woman plans to dog sit more often after winning $100,000 on a Bonus Cashword instant game ticket she received as a thank you gift.

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, received a Bonus Cashword ticket as a thank you gift from her daughter for dog sitting over the holidays. The winning ticket was bought at the Meijer store, located at 6200 South Pennsylvania Avenue in Lansing.

“My grandkids all bought me scratch-off tickets as Christmas gifts, but I didn’t win much of anything,” said the player. “I scratched this Bonus Cashword ticket on my way to a holiday party, and I couldn’t believe I won $100,000!”

The lucky player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. With her winnings she plans to help out her grandkids, and then splurge on herself.

“After I give some to each of my grandkids, I’m going to the casino! I can play the quarter slots instead of the penny slots now,” the player said.

Players have won more than $1.2 million playing Bonus Cashword, which launched in December. Each $3 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $3 up to $100,000 million. More than $26 million in prizes remain, including seven $100,000 top prizes and 216 $1,000 prizes.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.

In 2016, Lottery players won nearly $817 million playing instant games.
