A Father’s advice to a Macomb County woman led to her winning a $105,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot.

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the numbers drawn Oct. 18 to win the big prize: 09-24-27-29-30. She bought her winning ticket at the Marathon gas station, located at 35130 Harper Avenue in Clinton Township.

“My Dad always told me to play the same numbers for three straight days because they always come out on the third day,” said the player. “When I stopped at the Marathon, I had $4 in my wallet so I bought a Fantasy 5 ticket for four draws. My dad was right, I won on the third draw.”

While she won in October, the player didn’t realize she was a jackpot winner until Tuesday.

“I stopped yesterday and bought a few more tickets,” said the player. “When I put them in the console of my car, I noticed the ticket from a few weeks ago and checked it at MichiganLottery.com. I was so shocked that I had to ask a co-worker to double check everything for me.”

The lucky player visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim the jackpot. With her winnings, she plans to pay off her car, take a family vacation, and then save the remainder.

Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tonight’s Fantasy 5 jackpot is $247,000.
