A Newaygo County woman is looking forward to her life being “a lot easier” after winning $25,000 a year for life playing Lucky For Life.
Donna Jones, of White Cloud, matched the five white balls drawn Sept. 21 – 07-13-19-24-30 – to win the big prize. She bought her winning ticket at the Midway Party Store, located at 3821 South Evergreen Drive in White Cloud.
“I went to Midway to get my tickets like I do every Friday and as soon as I walked in the clerk told me that they sold a big winner and said I should scan my tickets,” said Jones the 58-year-old. “When I scanned I turned out to be the winner, everyone was so excited for me.
“The clerk said they were happy that one of their ‘regulars’ won and told me to sign the back of the ticket. Right about then, I started to get really shaky.”
Jones visited Lottery headquarters on Monday to claim her big prize. She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum of $390,000, rather than a lifetime annuity. With her winnings she plans to pay some bills, plan a dream vacation, and then save the remainder.
“Winning this money takes so much worry away and makes life a whole lot better,” Jones said.
For just $2 per play, Lucky For Life gives Lottery players a chance to win prizes ranging from $3 to a lifetime of cash. To win the game’s top prize of $1,000 a day for life, players must match all five winning numbers ranging from 1 to 48, plus one Lucky Ball ranging from 1 to 18. Players who match all five winning numbers, but not the Lucky Ball, will win $25,000 a year for life. Lucky For Life drawings take place every Monday and Thursday at 10:35 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at Lottery retailers across the state.
