Michigan Lottery Adds Houghton Secretary of State Office to Lottery Prize Claim Pilot Program

The Secretary of State (SOS) office in Houghton has been added to a pilot program that allows Lottery players to submit a claim for a Michigan Lottery prize at select SOS offices.

The joint effort between the state agencies is designed to provide Lottery players in the Upper Peninsula and northern Michigan with more options to claim prizes from $601 up to $50,000.  The participating SOS offices are:

  • Escanaba, located at 305 Ludington Street
  • Houghton, located at 902 Razorback Drive
  • Grayling, located at 2384C South I-75 Business Loop
  • Marquette, located at 2025 U.S. 41 West
  • Sault Ste Marie, located at 2700 Davitt Street

The pilot program began in February and has brought added convenience to Lottery players in northern Michigan.

Players who submit a claim for a Lottery prize at a SOS office receive payment via electronic funds transfer to a valid bank account the following business day. To submit a claim for a Lottery prize at a SOS office, players should bring the winning ticket, a valid photo ID, Social Security card, and bank account information (routing and account numbers, and a voided check).

Prizes of $600 or less may be claimed at Lottery retailers across the state. Prizes of $601 up to $50,000 may be claimed at Lottery offices, bank claim centers, or participating SOS offices. Players who win $50,001 or more should contact the Lottery’s Public Relations division at 517-373-1237 to set up an appointment to claim their prize.
