Winning a $133,892 Fantasy 5 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery left a Marquette County man wondering: “Is this even real?”

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, was one of two players to match the Fantasy 5 numbers drawn Jan 24: 15-17-28-32-36. He bought his winning ticket at the Kountry Korner gas station, located at 310 M-533 in Gwinn. Each winner received $133,892, half of the jackpot.

“I don’t play the Lottery much at all, but I had gotten an email about Mega Millions and I started looking into the game and the odds of winning the jackpot,” said the player. “That led me to check out Fantasy 5, and when I saw the odds of winning the jackpot were pretty good I decided to buy a ticket.

“I bought my ticket just before 7 p.m. and went on running some errands. When I got home at 8 p.m. I checked MichgianLottery.com to see what time the drawing was and that is when I saw that not only had the drawing happened, but I had matched all five numbers!”

After sharing the good news with his girlfriend, the player went to bed and planned to get up early to call the Lottery.

“I laid my head on my pillow, but I didn’t sleep even for five minutes the whole night,” said the player. “It was probably the longest night of my life.”

With his winnings the player plans to start college funds for his two children, and then invest the remainder.

“Winning the Lottery is unbelievable. I never would have guessed this would happen to me,” the player said.
