A Wayne County man turned a lucky feeling into a $300,000 prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s Bingo Plus instant game.
The lucky player bought his winning ticket the Canton City Market, located at 8177 North Sheldon Road in Canton.
“When I started scratching the ticket I had a lucky feeling,” said the player, who chose to remain anonymous. “Each time I scratched off a number, I told my wife ‘It’s going to be on card one.’ Turns out I was right.”
After taking the ticket back to the Canton City Market to confirm it was a big winner, the player hid the ticket in a wooden chest in his house.
“I figured my treasure chest would be a good place to keep the ticket,” said the player. “I knew if anything happened to me before I could claim the prize, my kids would be able to find it there.”
The player visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim the big prize. With his winnings, he plans to buy a new truck, pay some dental bills, and take a trip down south to visit his younger brother.
Players have won more than $5.2 million playing Bingo Plus, which launched in October 2016. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $17.7 million in prizes remain, including two $300,000 top prizes, four $12,000 prizes, eight $10,000 prizes, 33 $2,000 prizes, and 77 $1,000 prizes.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
