A Wayne County man had a long night after winning $500,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Fantastic 5s instant game.
The player, who chose to remain anonymous, checked his ticket every hour after he scratched it off to make sure he wasn’t dreaming that he had won $500,000.
The lucky player bought two Fantastic 5s tickets at the BP gas station, located at 25664 Gibraltar Road in Flat Rock. He gave one ticket to his mother, who won $20, and kept one for himself.
The player visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to help some family members, take a vacation, and save the remainder.
Players have won more than $6.3 million playing Fantastic 5s, which debuted in June. Each $5 ticket gives players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $500,000. More than $27.7 million in prizes remain, including: two $500,000 top prizes, and six $1,000 prizes.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
In 2015, Lottery players won more than $722.1 million playing instant games.
