A Wayne County man got a welcome disruption to his morning routine when he learned he’d won a $2 million Lotto 47 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery.
The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched all six Lotto 47 numbers drawn Wednesday: 24-26-28-33-38-46. He bought his winning ticket at the Marathon gas station, located at 25337 Warren Street in Dearborn Heights.
The lucky player was going through his normal routine Thursday morning, checking his Lotto 47 tickets at the Marathon gas station, when he received a message prompting him to see the clerk. When he handed his ticket to the clerk, she told him that they had sold a Lotto 47 jackpot winner. After the clerk scanned his ticket on the terminal, she gave him life-changing news: he was the jackpot winner!
After learning he’d won, the lucky player couldn’t stop pacing around the store.
The player visited Lottery headquarters on Friday to claim his prize. He chose to take a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.2 million rather than an annuity. He is still deciding on how to spend his windfall.
Each Lotto 47 play is only $1. Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Lotto 47 drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing. Wednesday’s Lotto 47 jackpot is $1.05 million.
