It took some extra explaining for an Ingham County man to convince his girlfriend he had won $60,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Hit Series online game.
“My girlfriend thought I was playing an April Fool’s Day joke when I told her I had won $60,000,” said the lucky player who chose to remain anonymous. “She told me to ‘shut up and go back to sleep.’”
The big win couldn’t have come at a better time for the 29-year-old player.
“My mom actually just helped me out yesterday and bought me a car,” said the player. “Now, I’m going to surprise her and buy her a new car.”
The player visited Lottery headquarters today to claim his big prize. After buying a car for his mother, he plans to use the rest of his big prize to pay off some bills.
Launched Wednesday, the Hit Series game is the newest online game offered by the Lottery. Hit Series tickets range in price from 5 cents up to $2, and offer players a chance to win prizes up to $60,000.
