A lucky Oakland County man has an earlier retirement on his mind after winning $2 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Ultimate Millions instant game.
The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the 7-Eleven, located at 4623 Crooks Road in Royal Oak.
The player visited Lottery headquarters on Wednesday to collect the big prize. The player chose to take his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million rather than as an annuity.
With his winnings, the player plans to invest so that he can retire sooner than he planned.
Players have won more than $27.5 million playing Ultimate Millions, which launched In September 2015. Each $20 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $20 up to $2 million. More than $49.5 million in prizes remain in the Ultimate Millions game, including one $2 million top prize, 45 $5,000 prizes, and 757 $1,000 prizes.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
