The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, asked his daughters to take a look at his $500 Grand Cashword instant game ticket after he completed scratching it. He got the biggest surprise of his life when they told him it was a $500,000 winner.

The retired player plans to share the money with his large family and possibly buy a new car.

Players have won more than $10.6 million playing $500 Grand Cashword, which launched in May. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $500,000. More than $16.1 million in prizes remain, including one $500,000 prize, and 15 $1,000 prizes.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
