A stop at Sam’s Yum Yum Donuts led to a full belly and bank account for a single mother of five from Taylor.

The player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning Fantasy 5 ticket at Sam’s Yum Yum Donuts, located at 8284 Telegraph Road in Taylor. Her winning ticket matched all five numbers drawn – 14-21-22-28-30 – on June 6 to win the $442,149 jackpot.

She bought her winning Fantasy 5 ticket just minutes before the drawing cutoff, but didn’t know it was a winner for days.

“I don’t buy Fantasy 5 tickets very often,” said the player. “I usually keep my tickets and check them periodically for winners. When I checked this ticket, I was stunned!”

Even after learning she was a jackpot winner, she still didn’t know how much she had won.

“When I figured out that I won $442,149 the shock happened all over again,” said the player. “I couldn’t even breathe or wrap my mind around how my life will change.”

For safekeeping, the woman kept the ticket in a picture frame that held a photo of her and her five children before coming to Lansing to claim her prize.

With her winnings, the player plans to buy a new home, finish her bachelor degree and invest the remainder.

“There are so many ways that this money will help my family. It will help take the financial pressure off of us and I’ll finally be able to finish my degree,” she said.
