What would you do with $1,000 a day for life? That is the question facing Michigan Lottery players with the upcoming launch of the Lottery’s newest draw game, Lucky for Life.
For just $2 per play, Lucky for Life gives Lottery players a chance to win prizes ranging from $4 up to a lifetime of cash. To win the game’s top prize of $1,000 a day for life, players must match all five winning numbers ranging from 1 to 48, plus one Lucky Ball ranging from 1 to 18. Players who match all five winning numbers, but not the Lucky Ball, will win $25,000 a year for life.
Players who win a “lifetime” prize will receive annual payments for a minimum of 20 years or life, whichever is greater. Players also will have the option to receive the lifetime prize as a one-time lump sum cash payment. The cash option for a single top-prize winner would be nearly $5.8 million. The cash option for a single winner of the $25,000 per year for life prize would be $390,000. The cash option prizes for multiple winners will be determined based on the game’s official rules.
Lucky for Life tickets go on sale at Lottery retailers beginning Jan. 27. Players may select their own numbers or choose an easy pick play. Tickets for Lucky for Life may be purchased until 9:04 p.m. on the day of the drawing. The game’s first drawing will take place on Jan. 29 at 10:35 p.m. Lucky for Life drawings will take place on Monday and Thursday at 10:35 p.m.
Michigan will be one of 14 states participating in the new Lucky for Life game when it launches later this month. The other participating states are: Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Vermont. More states are expected to offer the game in the future.
