Time is running out to claim a $250,000 Mega Millions prize from the Michigan Lottery. The prize must be claimed by 4:45 p.m. on Monday or it will go to the state School Aid Fund.
The winning ticket was bought in Flint at the Southend Market, 1701 S. Saginaw Street. The ticket was for the March 29, 2013 Mega Millions drawing. The winning numbers for that drawing were 25-31-36-46-53 and the Gold Mega Ball was 21. The $250,000 winner matched the first five numbers for that drawing.
Mega Millions tickets and all other terminal-based tickets are valid for one year from the drawing date. Because the one-year mark for the winning ticket falls on Saturday, the ticket will expire on Monday.
The ticket holder should contact the Lottery’s Public Relations Division at (517) 373-1237 for an appointment to claim the prize at the Lottery headquarters in Lansing.
The clock also is ticking for another $250,000 Mega Millions prize. That winning ticket was bought at the 8-Mile Foodland in Southfield for the April 12, 2013 drawing. The winning numbers for that drawing were 01-10-13-19-21 and the Gold Mega Ball was 28. The $250,000 winning ticket matched the first five numbers for that drawing.
Earlier this month, a Fantasy 5 ticket worth $138,727 expired and the unclaimed prize went to the School Aid Fund. The Lottery contributed $734.3 million to the School Aid Fund in the 2013 fiscal year. That works out to about $465 for each of the 1.58 million pupils in the state’s kindergarten-through-12th grade system.
