The state School Aid Fund got a boost of nearly $139,000 today when a Fantasy 5 jackpot went unclaimed.
The winning ticket for March 9, 2013 drawing expired at 4:45 p.m. today. The ticket was worth $138,727 and was bought at the Smokers Depot & Convenience located at 27214 W 8 Mile Rd. in Southfield.
Fantasy 5 tickets and all other terminal-based tickets are valid one year from the draw date. If Michigan Lottery prizes go unclaimed, they will go to the state School Aid Fund. The Lottery contributed $734.3 million to the School Aid Fund in fiscal year 2013. That works out to about $465 for each of the 1.58 million pupils in the state’s kindergarten-through-12th grade system.
Another Fantasy 5 top prize of $100,000 is set to expire next week! The jackpot winning ticket from the March 11, 2013 drawing was purchased in Sand Lake, at Gould’s Mini Mart located at 14150 Cypress Avenue. That prize must be claimed by 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. The winning numbers for that drawing were: 01-05-15-22-30
The list of large unclaimed prizes may be found on the Lottery’s website, www.michiganlottery.com, under the “Games” tab on the home page.
