A Lapeer-area lottery club — “We Are Family” — claimed a $1 million Powerball prize this week that it won in the Dec. 7 drawing.

A representative of the club, which has nine members, said they knew shortly after the drawing that they had won the $1 million prize, but wanted to make sure they had all the details nailed down before they collected the money.

The club representative said that he plans to use his share of the prize to buy a new house and a new car and to invest in some stocks.

The winning Powerball ticket was sold by Westside Party Store located at 2990 W. Genesee St. in Lapeer. The winning numbers were 13-20-32-45-48.
