Pearlene Jefferson said that “something told her” to buy an Instant Lottery Ticket. But which one should she choose? Then she spotted one of the Michigan Lottery’s newest games called “Sweet Winnings.” Yes, she thought, because winning the Lottery would be “sweet.”

As it turned out, it was a tasty day for Jefferson! She won the game’s $300,000 top prize!

At first, Jefferson thought she had won $30. Then she took a second look, realized the prize was 1000 times that, and was so excited she ran across the street to tell a neighbor of her good fortune.

The Clinton Township resident was a hard-working mother of six before she was sidelined with a disability. Since that time, life has been a struggle. She didn’t think she’d ever realize her dream of owning a home.

But now Jefferson has big plans! She intends to purchase that home and buy a new car, something she has never owned. She also wants to help her family, and then take a vacation to Jamaica with her fiancé.

The winning ticket was sold at Gemini Market II located at 34111 Harper Ave. in Clinton Township.

In fiscal year 2012, the Lottery’s contribution to schools was approx. $770 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $17 billion to education in Michigan.
