Joseph Early of Jension gladly bought everyone at the Florentine Ristorante in Grandville a round to pay tribute to the fact that he’d just won Club Keno’s The Jack prize of $150,979 on June 7.
Even after celebrating his win Early couldn’t believe that he had actually won $150,979. It was not until he was handed the big check at Lottery headquarters on June 16 that it all became real.
Early, who is currently attending Grand Valley State University after serving three tours of duty with the US Army in Iraq, intends to use his winnings to purchase a new car. “Whatever is leftover will go straight to the bank,” he said with a big smile.
The winning ticket was purchased at Florentine Ristorante located at 3245 28th Street SW in Grandville.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2011, the contribution to schools was over $727.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed over $16 billion to education in Michigan.
