Mega MillionsDarnell Adams of Detroit claimed $250,000 when he matched five white ball numbers for the Mega Millions drawing on March 30.

Adams was driving home after purchasing his Mega Millions ticket when he realized he still had a completed bet slip he had not played. He was feeling sleepy while driving, so he decided to stop and play his bet slip while trying to shake the fatigue to continue the drive home. “I made a mistake and didn’t realize I had filled out two bet slips with the same numbers. So when I stopped to play my last bet slip, it had the same numbers as one I already played,” Adams said.

Once he realized what he had done, Adams was a little disturbed he purchased two tickets with the same numbers. But when he checked the winning numbers, he was less disturbed, and more grateful! Adams realized he won $250,000 twice!

Adams purchased one winning ticket at Speedway #8708 located at 2799 Plymouth Rd. in Ann Arbor.  The other winning ticket was purchased at Sunny Oil Inc. located at 3031 Washtenaw Ave. in Dearborn.

The Mega Millions jackpot skyrocketed to a massive $656 million once all sales closed on Friday, March 30 at 10:45 p.m.  Once the dust settled, Adams claimed two of the six Michigan tickets to match 5 white balls to win $250,000 in the historic Mega Millions drawing.  In fact, 636,136 Michigan players won a combined total of $4,573,224!
