William Bobbish of Canton is ready for his vacation! Bobbish is the first player to claim his $250,000 from yesterday’s Mega Millions drawing that had an amazing nine tickets match 5 white ball numbers in Michigan.
Bobbish’s ticket was sold at Smoker’s Express located at 45156 Ford Rd. in Canton.
The numbers that yielded Bobbish the $250,000 were his lucky numbers; he has been playing them for years. When asked what he intends to do with his winnings, Mr. Bobbish answered like a quarterback that had just won the Super Bowl: “I’m going to Disney World!” He intends to take his six grandchildren along on the trip too!!
The other eight $250,000 winning Mega Millions tickets were sold at:
- Meijer Store #54 located at 20401 Haggerty Rd. in Northville (5 sold)
- Sam’s Yum Yum Donuts Inc. located at 8284 Telegraph Rd. in Taylor
- Eagle Express Liquor & Deli located at 9576 Highland Rd. in Howell
- Fenton Party Store located at 502 W. Silver Lake Rd. in Fenton
The owners of all the winning tickets must contact the Lottery’s Public Relations Division at 517-373-1237 to make an appointment to claim their prizes.
Mega Millions fever is expected to continue as Friday’s jackpot has jumped to $290 million, since the top prize was not won in Tuesday’s drawing. Friday’s cash option is $205 million for a single winner who takes the prize in a lump sum rather than 26 annual installments.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2011, the contribution to schools was over $727.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed over $16 billion to education in Michigan.
