Michigan Lottery Debuts New TV Game Show

Lansing, MI, October 8, 2009 – Michigan Lottery players will win over $4 million in cash and prizes on a new TV game show, “Make Me Rich!,” on Friday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m.  The show is hosted by Christopher Knight, best known for his role as Peter Brady on the 1970’s hit TV series “The Brady Bunch” and most recently as Host of “Trivial Pursuit America Plays.”

“Make Me Rich!” — the biggest, richest, prime-time TV game show ever — will award over $4 million in cash and prizes.  Contestants will compete in four separate games for a chance to win a 2010 Mustang GT Premium, one of two $1 million prizes, or a grand prize of $2 million.  Another exciting twist is that viewers at home will be able to text-in for a chance to win one of five $1,000 prizes.

Created by Hollywood game show producer Jonathan Goodson Productions, “Make Me Rich!” will air new shows quarterly with a variety of exciting prizes in eight markets across the state: Alpena (WBKB-TV), Detroit (WDIV-TV), Flint (WNEM-TV), Grand Rapids (WXSP-TV), Lansing (WLAJ-TV), Marquette/Escanaba (WJMN-TV), Muskegon (WMXG-TV) and Traverse City (WGTU-TV).  Christopher Knight will host all future productions, with the second show slated to air in February 2010.

Starting his acting career at age of seven, Christopher Knight began appearing in national commercials and television shows such as “Gunsmoke” and “Mannix.”  Fortune smiled upon Christopher’s at age ten when he won the part of middle brother, Peter Brady, in “The Brady Bunch.”  Airing from September 1969 – August 1974, it is one of the most successful television shows of all time.  Working throughout his teens and twenties Knight continued to pursue his acting career with numerous staring rolls in films, TV movies and television series.  During this period Knight held a long stint on the soap opera “Another World” as Leigh Hobson who happened to hail from Michigan’s “Bay City” and then the highly regarded, though short lived, Norman Lear series “Joe’s World” about the blue collar Wabash family from Detroit.  With “Make Me Rich!”, Michigan seems to continue to play a central role in Knight’s life.  After nearly 20 years out of show business and focused on business, Knight recently reentered “the biz” when he garnered great attention for his appearances on VH1’s “The Surreal Life” then his life altering experience on “My Fair Brady.”  Most recently Knight found his calling as a game show host ? on the wildly popular syndicated game show “Trivial Pursuit America Plays.”

The Michigan Lottery returns over 95 cents of every dollar spent on lottery tickets in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players, and commissions to retailers.  In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million.  Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
