Triple Stars and Bars prize claimed

LANSING, June 18, 2009 – Andy Goforth thought his Triple Stars and Bars Instant ticket was worth $30 until he had the clerk at a local Lottery retailer check it for him. As it turns out, the lucky ticket ended up being worth $30,000!

The Belleville man hid the winning ticket in his pocket before cashing it at the Lottery’s Dearborn Heights office. The lucky winner plans to save the prize money.

The lucky Instant ticket was purchased at Belleville Shell, 11530 Belleville Rd., in Belleville.

Triple Stars and Bars is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
