Million Dollar Mega Play top prizes claimed!

LANSING, June 22, 2009 – Three anonymous Lottery players are the lucky winners of three top $1 million prizes in the Lottery’s instant ticket, Million Dollar Mega Play.

Since the popular game went on sale on March 16, the Michigan Lottery has paid over $15,000,000 to thousands of lucky winners. Seven of the top prizes have been claimed and five top prizes of $1 million remain.

The lucky tickets were purchased at Speedway #3568, 615 S. Broadway St., in Middleville; Jennifer SE Inc., 39600 Van Dyke Ave., in Sterling Heights; and Pete’s Check Cashing, 244 W. Genesee Ave., in Saginaw.

Additional winners who have claimed second-tier $10,000 prizes include Michael Sedmak of St. Clair; Harry Densmore of Jackson; Charles Hahn of South Lyon; Lawrence Lamphere of Waterford; Bettie Shelner of Sparta; Alan Pack of Temperance; Dalia Cogal of Livonia; Charles Head of Sterling Heights; Darrell Lanier of Lambertville; Hala Korkis of Shelby Twp.; Jeffery Manning of Westland; Danny Rea of Westland; Tony Pancake of Mecosta; Earl Jackson, Jr. of New Baltimore; and Randy Hourani of Dearborn Heights.

State St., in Sparta; Zeiler’s Farm Market, 6925 Lewis Ave., in Temperance; Smoker City Discount, 19584 Middlebelt Rd., in Livonia; Terri Inc., 42640 Hayes Rd., in Clinton Township; Doug’s Party Store, 6721 Whiteford Center Rd., in Lambertville; Country Party Store, 23750 Greater Mack Ave., in St. Clair Shores; Golden Star Party Shoppe, 1814 S. Along with the 12 $1 million prizes, the Million Dollar Mega Play ticket, which sells for $10, includes millions of dollars in other prize amounts, including over 200 prizes of $10,000 and nearly 15,000 prizes of $100. In total, there are over 950,000 winning tickets available, totaling over $32 million in cash prizes.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
