LANSING, March 6, 2009 – An anonymous Lottery player was the lucky winner of a $140,586 prize in the March 1 Fantasy 5 drawing.

The long-time player used significant birthdays for the own-pick winning ticket. The winner plans to put the prize money towards retirement.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Don’s Sip & Dip, 4190 E. Court St. K-12, in Burton.

Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was over $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
