LANSING, January 5, 2009 – Just hours after the drawing of the Millionaire Raffle, the first winner has claimed $100,000.
An anonymous player from Grand Rapids checked his numbers on the Lottery’s Web site and didn’t believe his luck. The lucky winner plans to take a vacation down south with the prize money. The winning ticket was purchased at Party World, 5568 Alpine Ave. NW, Comstock Park. This is the third winning Raffle ticket Party World has sold. Previous winning tickets include $1 million in the June 23, 2008 Millionaire Raffle and $1 million in the January 2, 2008, Millionaire Raffle.
Results of today’s Millionaire Raffle drawing are posted on the Lottery’s Web site, https://www.michiganlottery.com. Players can also have their tickets validated by a Michigan Lottery retailer or at one of the Lottery’s regional offices around the state.
The Millionaire Raffle sold out on Sunday and the winning numbers were drawn today. Featured were six prizes of $1 million each, 12 prizes of $100,000, 2,000 prizes of $500 and 4,000 prizes of $100.
The Raffle numbers on the tickets must match the exact order in which the winning numbers were drawn to be eligible for a prize and winners must present their original tickets when making a claim. Winners claiming prizes over $50,000 must contact the Lottery’s Public Relations office at 517-373-1237 to set up an appointment to claim their prize.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was $740.7 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
