Super Raffle winners begin claiming prize money!

LANSING, November 6, 2008 – Just one day after the Super Raffle drawing, the Michigan Lottery has paid out over $2 million in prize money to four lucky winners. A total of 14,022 winning tickets were drawn in the game.

An anonymous club was one of the drawing’s two winners of $2 million with a ticket purchased the Mug & Jug Party Shop in Farmington.

Three players anonymously claimed prizes of $100,000. One purchased a winning ticket at the Mayflower Market in Plymouth and another made the lucky buy at Northwestern Shell in Farmington Hills. The third $100,000 prize winning ticket claimed Thursday, also by an anonymous winner, was sold at the Windmill Truck Stop in Dimondale.

The Super Raffle game that was drawn Wednesday was the fourth Super Raffle offered by the Lottery. Featured were two prizes of $2 million each, 20 prizes of $100,000, 4,000 prizes of $500 and 10,000 prizes of $100.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was over $740 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
