LANSING, November 3, 2008 – A very lucky anonymous woman is $35,000 richer after scratching one of the top prizes on a Cashword ticket.
The regular Lottery player told Lottery officials she was “happy” with her win. The avid reader brought the ticket in to the Lottery’s Sterling Heights office right away, but has no immediate plans for her prize money.
The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Salem Market, 21504 John R Rd., in Hazel Park.
Cashword is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was over $740 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
