LANSING, October 24, 2008 – A very lucky anonymous woman claimed a $100,000 prize from January’s Millionaire Raffle game.
The woman realized she held a winning ticket after the January 2 drawing but waited until she could take a day off work to come and claim the $100,000 prize. Millionaire Raffle and other Online Lottery winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize
The winning ticket was purchased at Meijer #46, 8650 W. Grand River Ave., in Brighton.
The Millionaire Raffle drew numbers for six prizes of $1 million each; 12 prizes of $100,000 each; 2,000 prizes of $500 each; and 4,000 of $100 each. Only 600,000 tickets were sold for the drawing, giving the game the best odds ever offered by the Michigan Lottery to win $1 million.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was over $740 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
