LANSING, October 22, 2008 – Renita Holloway of Detroit screamed when she found out her $2 Sweet Spot Bingo Instant ticket was worth $30,000. Holloway is the first to claim one of the $30,000 Sweet Spot Bingo prizes.
She hid the winning ticket in a drawer before cashing it in at the Lottery’s Region 1 office in Detroit. She plans on paying bills with the prize money.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Azzam Oil Company, 14800 E. Warren Ave., in Detroit.
Sweet Spot Bingo is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was over $740 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
