Madison Heights woman claims $35,000

LANSING, October 20, 2008 – Susan Conway of Madison Heights claimed a $35,000 prize after scratching a winning Cashword instant ticket.

Conway hid the winning ticket in her purse before cashing it in at the Lottery’s Region 8 office in Sterling Heights.  She has made no special plans for the money.

The lucky ticket was purchased at G & P Market, 1801 N. Main St., in Royal Oak.

Cashword is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was over $740 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
