Winner claims “red hot” prize

LANSING, October 14, 2008 – One lucky Fennville winner is $10,000 richer after scratching a winning Super Red Hot Cashword Instant ticket.

Bennie Beery, who has been a regular Lottery player for five years, didn’t believe he had a winning ticket. He told Lottery officials that he went through the letters twice, just to make sure his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him.

The lucky winner plans to use the prize money to pay bills. He enjoys yard work and fishing in his free time.

The winning ticket was purchased at Fennville Shell Mart, 202 W. Main St., in Fennville.

Super Red Hot Cashword is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at nearly 11,000 Lottery retailers statewide.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was over $740 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
