Upper Peninsula ticket claimed

LANSING, August 14, 2008 – A very lucky anonymous man claimed his July 14 Fantasy 5 ticket that was purchased in Newberry. The man matched all five numbers plus an additional two numbers on a different line and won $100,001.

The own-pick ticket was purchased at Hilltop Shell, M 123 S., in Newberry.

Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
