Winner cashes in

LANSING, April 15, 2008 – It was a near miss for one lucky Lottery winner! A lucky Farmington woman almost skipped buying her Fantasy 5 ticket on April 9, but instead decided to play just $1.

That $1 paid off when she turned it into a $110,000 Fantasy 5 win!

The winner said she plans to put the money in the bank and “think about it for a while” before spending. She has played the Lottery for years and although her family and friends teased her about playing, never gave up hope she would win.

The easy pick ticket was purchased at Harvest Fresh Market, 22128 Farmington Rd., in Farmington.

Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
