LANSING, April 15, 2008 – A very lucky woman who bet $2 a draw on her 10-spot Club Keno ticket won two different times! She matched nine of 10 numbers and five of 10 numbers on the same ticket for a grand total of $10,004!
Virginia Coppins of Washington, MI, told Lottery officials that she is not a regular Lottery player. She hid the easy pick ticket in a lock box and home and plans to use the prize money to pay bills. She enjoys reading and sitting in the sun in her free time.
Coppins purchased her lucky ticket at Recreation Bowl, 40 Crocker Blvd., in Mt. Clemens.
Club Keno offers 37 different ways to play and win. Players can wager $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20 per drawing and tickets can be purchased for up to 20 drawings at a time. Players win Club Keno by matching some or all of the numbers they have selected to the numbers drawn. The more numbers matched, the more the player wins.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
