LANSING, January 10, 2008 – The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot is still on the rise! Saturday’s prize is a whopping $16.9 million.
The record breaking jackpot far surpasses the largest previous jackpot, $12.6 million claimed in July 2007.
“We are so anxious to see when the jackpot will be won, making a lucky Michigan player very rich!” Acting Lottery Commissioner Tom Weber said.
Although no one won the Classic Lotto 47 jackpot, 22 lucky players matched five numbers to win $2,500 and 871 players matched four numbers and won $100. Saturday’s winning numbers were 04 12 15 18 31 43.
The next Classic Lotto 47 drawing is Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Saturday’s 7:29 p.m. drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. that night.
The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot starts at $1 million and grows by at least $100,000 each time the jackpot is not won.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
