Classic Lotto 47 jackpot still on the move!

LANSING, January 7, 2008 – Just when you thought it couldn’t get any bigger the Classic Lotto 47 jackpot has jumped again- to a whopping $16.5 million!

This record jackpot far surpasses the largest amount ever won in the game, a $12.6 million prize paid in July 2007.

“The big jackpot is great! Michigan players can now win more playing Classic Lotto 47 than Mega Millions and with better odds!” Acting Lottery Commissioner Tom Weber said.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot is $16 million.

Although no one won the Classic Lotto 47 jackpot, 19 lucky players matched five numbers to win $2,500 and over 1,000 players matched four numbers and won $100.

Saturday’s winning numbers were 04 17 22 24 34 44.

The next Classic Lotto 47 drawing is Wednesday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Wednesday’s 7:29 p.m. drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. that night.

The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot starts at $1 million and grows by at least $100,000 each time the jackpot is not won.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
