LANSING, December 6, 2007 – The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot has reached historic highs! Saturday’s $13 million jackpot is the largest ever in the history of the game!
For weeks the jackpot has been growing, starting at $1 million! No tickets sold in Wednesday night’s drawing matched all six numbers, but 10 lucky players matched five of six numbers to win $2,500 each!
Wednesday’s winning numbers were 12-15-17-18-42-47.
The previous record jackpot in Classic Lotto 47, which was $12,624,787, was won this year on July 4 by an anonymous couple. The ticket was purchased in Orion.
Classic Lotto 47 is a six-digit game drawn Wednesdays and Saturdays. Jackpots begin at $1 million and increase by $100,000 in every drawing. Classic Lotto 47 tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Saturday night’s drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. on Saturday.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
