LANSING, December 3, 2007 – A very surprised winner got a great thrill on Thanksgiving night when he realized he had won $72,000 playing Fantasy 5!
The anonymous winner was one of two players to match all five numbers in the drawing. His wife said he was screaming when he saw his own pick numbers on the Lottery’s Web site.
The couple plan to use the prize money to pay bills, pay off a car, help their son with his college tuition and “have a nice Christmas”.
The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven 21138, 13913 Eureka Rd., in Southgate.
Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
