Marysville woman wins "Mega" prize

LANSING, September 11, 2007 – Kathy Down was in disbelief after seeing her Mega Millions numbers in her local newspaper!

Down matched four white ball numbers and the gold Mega ball number in the Aug. 31 drawing to win a $10,000 prize.  She matched two other lines to bring her grand total to a whopping $10,012!

The easy pick ticket was kept in a China cabinet prior to bringing it to the Lottery’s Sterling Heights office to cash.  She plans to use her prize money to pay bills.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Wolverines of Marysville, 1360 Michigan Ave., in Marysville.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
