Business owner wins $10,000

LANSING, March 12, 2007 – Ghassan Kanno, owner of a pizzeria, claimed a $10,000 prize by matching four white ball numbers and the gold ball in the Mega Millions game.

The 41-year-old Troy man has played the Lottery for the last 20 years.  He hid the winning easy pick ticket in his wallet before cashing it in at one of the Lottery’s regional offices.

The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven 32817, 3307 Greenfield Rd., in Dearborn.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
