Lansing woman claims $250,000

LANSING, March 1, 2007 – Lisa Rhodes was in disbelief when she realized she matched all five white ball numbers, without matching the Mega ball, in the Feb. 23 Mega Millions drawing and won $250,000!

The lucky woman purchased her winning ticket at 7-Eleven #150C, 1975 Jolly Rd., in Lansing.  She checked her ticket at work and shared the good news with her husband.

The lucky winner said she used the ages of her family members to pick her numbers for the big win.  She has been playing the Lottery for about six years and plans to use her prize money to invest, make some house payments and save for her children’s college.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
