$250,000 prize claimed

LANSING, December 18, 2006 – A very lucky Pontiac man is $250,000 richer after he matched all five white balls, without matching the Mega ball, in the October 3 Mega Millions drawing.

Lawrence Richardson checked his numbers on the Lottery’s Web site and was so shocked he had to ask his girlfriend to check the ticket again.

Richardson hid the winning ticket in a safe deposit box and plans to use the money to pay bills.

The winning easy pick ticket was purchased at Mejier #30, 2777 Airport Rd., in Jackson.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
