LANSING, October 24, 2002 – Kenneth Mahoney of Eastpointe experienced a bit of Lottery luck upon winning a $14,268 Michigan Rolldown jackpot prize in the October 16 drawing. The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 5, 6, 7, 10 and 14.
In total for the October 16 drawing, 16,993 winners shared $50,019 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 64 winners matched four numbers to win a $91 prize; 1,857 winners matched three numbers to win an $8 prize; and 15,071 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
Mahoney purchased the winning "easy pick" ticket at Super Kmart #4998, 17580 Frazho Road, in Roseville.
"I looked up the winning numbers on the Lottery’s Web site (www.michigan.gov/lottery) and was shocked to learn I had won the jackpot," he exclaimed.
The winner, an 82-year-old retiree who enjoys watching baseball in his free time, kept the winning ticket on a table in his home prior to claiming his prize at the Lottery’s regional office in Sterling Heights. The lucky winner added that he currently has no special plans for his winnings.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. The cost to play is $1.00 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
