Williamsburg Man Reels In The Dough With Lottery's Michigan Rolldown Game!

LANSING, August 21, 2002 – A Williamsburg man said he was "surprised and amazed" to learn he had matched all five numbers in the August 9 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win the $16,856 jackpot! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 8, 12, 20, 22 and 30.

In total for the August 9 Michigan Rolldown drawing, there were 18,308 winners who shared $57,083 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, there were 60 winners who matched four numbers for a prize of $115; 1,885 winners who matched three numbers for a prize of $9; and 16,362 winners who matched two numbers for the $1 prize.

The 68-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, purchased the winning Michigan Rolldown "easy pick" ticket at Wild Bills Party Store, 127 River St., in Elk Rapids.

The lucky man said he enjoys playing the Michigan Rolldown game and has won prizes in the game several different times, but never the jackpot prize – until now! He said that when he told his wife that he had won the Rolldown jackpot prize she didn’t believe him.

"I am always kidding around with her so she thought it must be a joke," the winner said. "We are both still completely surprised and amazed to have won!"

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at a Lottery bank claim center in northern Michigan, the winner said he kept it in his billfold at all times to ensure its safety. The Elk Rapids man said he plans to save his winnings for the future.

Michigan Rolldown drawings are conducted six days a week — Monday through Saturday – at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at the more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
